Celtic Sounds is a sophisticated MIDI sound module designed for musicians seeking an authentic experience with traditional Irish and Scottish instruments. The module features seven meticulously crafted instruments:

• High-D Tin Whistle
• Wooden Flute
• Uilleann Pipes Chanter, Drones, and Baritone/Tenor Regulator Pairs
• Anglo Concertina
• Button Accordion
• Great Highland Bagpipes Chanter and Drones
• Scottish Smallpipes Chanter and Drones

Each note has been individually recorded, ensuring a highly authentic sound quality. The app operates as a CoreMIDI Sound Module, compatible with various CoreMIDI file players and controller applications.

The module allows musicians to play sounds through a MIDI keyboard or other MIDI controllers connected via a MIDI interface using the Lightning port. It also serves as an Audiobus 2 source module and is compatible with Audiobus 3, providing users with Inter-App Audio support through Audiobus.

Users have comprehensive control over instrument selection, transposition, volume, reverb style (with options including Room, Hall1, Hall2, or Church), reverb level, MIDI channel, and MIDI pitch bend values. The "Transpose Semitones" slider enables the adjustment of the entire instrument's pitch by up to one octave in semitone increments without altering the MIDI note numbers the app recognizes. A touch on the number adjacent to the slider resets this transposition to zero semitones.

To manage unexpected MIDI "stuck notes," a "Shhh" button is conveniently located at the top right to silence all sounds swiftly. The app reacts effectively to MIDI note-on velocity and pitch bend messages within the chosen channel, with configurable maximum pitch bend response set by "Pitch Bend Semitones," defaulting to two semitones.

The MIDI note ranges of the instruments are as follows:

• Anglo Concertina: C2 (48) - A5 (93)
• Button Accordion: G2 (53) - E5 (88)

Particularly for the Uilleann Pipes, specialized MIDI notes starting from C1 (36) facilitate various drone and regulator sounds. The drones are activated by pressing designated keys—D2 (50) for Lynch Drones and D#2 (51) for Crowley Drones—both of which have a latching function that begins and stops playback upon repeated key presses. Chanters for Uilleann Pipes span from D3 (62) to D5 (86).

Midi control for both Great Highland Bagpipes and Smallpipes follows a similar latching mechanism; however, pitch bend messages exclusively affect chanter notes and not drones or regulators. Default configurations align with the WARBL GHB controller note mapping.

The app also offers the "MIDI Transpose Semitones" slider that assists in shifting incoming MIDI note messages by one octave, enhancing compatibility for fixed-range controllers like MIDI chanters. A reset option is available to bring transposition back to zero semitones effortlessly.
